Manicuring

Overview

The Manicuring Program consists of two (2) competency-based courses, described below. Fully approved by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (CSBBC) this program designed to prepare individuals for California's licensing examinations. Students will receive hands-on instruction and practical experience. Program topics include: State regulations, basic business skills, health and safety, hazardous substances, chemistry, electricity, bacteriology, principles of infection control and sanitation, and anatomy and physiology. Technique in polishing and design are included.

Manicuring Program Prerequisites:
  • English Language Competency
  • Assessed Reading Level | 10th grade or higher
  • Completion of 10th grade (or equivalent)
  • High school diploma or HiSET is recommended for employment

Course Details:
The first of the two training courses conducted under the rules and regulations issued by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (CSBBC). This course develops the skills needed to take and pass the license examination. Instruction includes state regulations and basic chemistry, health and safety, hazardous substances, electricity, bacteriology, principles of infection control and sanitation, and anatomy and physiology. It emphasizes techniques in manual facials and electrical facials.

Course Details:
This competency-based course the second of two training courses and is conducted under the rules and regulations issued by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (CSBBC). This course futher develops the skills needed to take and pass the license examination. It emphasizes techniques in electrical facials, chemical facials, and advanced topics and treatments, client preparation, health and safety, and manual facials.

NOTES:

  • Separate costs for books, exams, supplies, preparation, certifications and/or licenses provided by outside vendors may be incured.
  • Once a Certificate of Completion is earned in a course, that course cannot be repeated.
